It was the last day of December. Emma was very excited about the evening. She had invited her best friends to celebrate New Year's Eve together. In the morning, Emma went to the supermarket. She bought snacks, drinks, and party decorations. The store was very crowded because everyone was preparing for the big night. Back home, Emma started decorating her apartment. She hung colorful balloons and shiny streamers on the walls. She also put a big banner that said 'Happy New Year' above the door. At six o'clock, Emma started cooking dinner. She made pasta with tomato sauce and a big salad. For dessert, she had bought a delicious chocolate cake. The first guests arrived at eight o'clock. It was her friend Sofia with her boyfriend Marco.
