Emma walks into the library. The library is big and quiet. She sees many books on the shelves. Emma walks to the front desk. A librarian sits behind the desk. 'Hello, can I help you?' the librarian asks. 'Yes, please. I want to borrow some books,' Emma says. 'Do you have a library card?' the librarian asks. 'No, I do not have one yet,' Emma says. 'No problem. I can make one for you now,' the librarian says. Emma gives her name and address. The librarian types on the computer. 'Here is your new library card,' she says. Emma takes the card and smiles. 'Thank you very much,' she says. 'Now, what kind of books do you like?' the librarian asks. 'I like stories about travel and adventure,' Emma says. 'Great! Follow me,' the librarian says. They walk to the travel section. The librarian shows Emma many interesting books. Emma picks three books from the shelf. One book is about Italy. One book is about Africa. One book is about Japan. They go back to the front desk. The librarian scans Emma's library card. Then she scans each book. 'You can keep these books for three weeks,' the librarian says. 'Thank you. I will read them quickly,' Emma says. Emma puts the books in her bag. She waves goodbye to the librarian. Emma walks home with a big smile. She cannot wait to read her new books.
