Emma bought a new coffee machine last week. She was very excited to try it at home. The machine looked beautiful on her kitchen counter. However, when she pressed the button, nothing happened. She tried again and again, but the machine would not start. Emma felt disappointed and a little bit angry. She decided to return the machine to the store. The next morning, Emma packed the machine back in its box. She also took the receipt with her. The receipt was important because it showed when she bought the item. Emma drove to the electronics store in the shopping center. The store was busy with many customers. She walked to the customer service desk at the back. A young man with glasses stood behind the counter. 'Hello, how can I help you today?' he asked with a smile. 'I would like to return this coffee machine,' Emma said. 'I see. May I ask what the problem is?' the employee asked. 'It does not work at all. I press the button, but nothing happens.' The employee nodded and took the box from her. 'Do you have the original receipt?' he asked. 'Yes, here it is,' Emma said, handing him the receipt. The employee looked at the receipt carefully. 'You bought this five days ago. That is within our return period.' Emma felt relieved to hear this. 'Let me check the machine quickly,' the employee said. He opened the box and plugged the machine into an outlet. He pressed the power button several times. 'You are right. It seems to be defective,' he confirmed. 'Would you like a replacement or a refund?' he asked. Emma thought about it for a moment. 'I would prefer a refund, please,' she said. 'No problem. I will process that right away.' The employee typed something on his computer. 'How did you pay for the machine?' he asked. 'I paid with my credit card,' Emma replied. 'Perfect. The money will be back on your card in three to five days.' Emma smiled with relief. 'Thank you very much for your help,' she said. 'You are welcome. I am sorry for the inconvenience,' the employee said. He handed her a paper to sign. 'Please sign here to confirm the return,' he said. Emma signed the document and took her copy. 'Is there anything else I can help you with?' the employee asked. 'No, that is all. Thank you again,' Emma replied. 'Have a nice day!' the employee said cheerfully. Emma left the store feeling much better than before. The refund process had been easier than she expected. She was glad she had kept the receipt and the original box. On her way home, she stopped at a different store. She decided to buy a different coffee machine brand. This time, she read the online reviews carefully before buying. The new machine had excellent ratings from other customers. When she got home, she unpacked it immediately. She pressed the button, and the machine turned on perfectly. A few minutes later, she enjoyed her first cup of fresh coffee. 'This one works perfectly,' she said to herself with a smile.
